The PRCD-S is a PRCD (Portable Residual Current Device; S = safety) designed as an intermediate cord device with electronic residual current evaluation. In accordance with BGI608, the PRCD-S features the following functions: - Residual current protective device - Under-voltage protection - Earth conductor detection - Protective conductor monitoring - External voltage detection Protection if external voltage is on the protective conductor - The PRCD-S detects the external voltage on the earth conductor. - However, the PRCD-S does not interrupt the earth connector connection. - The external voltage can therefore be isolated via their own, upstream protective devices FI and LS. The intact protective conductor functions are checked before turning on and monitored during operation. An increase in protective level against shock currents is achieved. Under-voltage protection prevents automatic switch-on after power is restored. The PRCD-S does not shut off when the protective conductor is supplied with external voltage, e.g. by drilling into an external cable.
