It also has built-in monitoring capability to provide early fault detection, which can be configured to latch the IC into a shutdown condition. Settings programmed into the DS1861 are stored in password-protected EEPROM memory, which write-protects calibration data. Programming is accomplished through an I²C-compatible interface, which can also be used to read diagnostic information.
