It's about 30mm in diameter, so you can drill a hole in your wood, plastic or metal with a common hole saw or bit, no special shapes or filing are required. Un-screw the plastic nut, insert the plug and re-attach. Ta-da! Now you have a panel mount USB-C jack. On both the inner and outer side is a USB C connection, which is a pass-through so it can be used for power, data, and either host or peripheral. Please note that due to how USB C reversibility is designed, this USB connector will only work in one orientation direction. If you don't get a connection, flip the cable around and try again!
