It offers the ability to reliably de-energise even a very large downstream distribution grid with numerous socket circuits and lighting circuits, all from a single point. This increases safety, not least in large and/or intricately laid-out areas and buildings. Although the SCB main switch ensures that the short-circuit current is reduced in the event of a short circuit, it does not completely switch off unaffected areas before its final actuation.
