The PD70288 IdealBridge™ (IDB) is a dual active diode bridge designed to support Types 1, 2, 3, and 4 Powered Devices (PD) and it is a mandatory part of the PD application, as defined by the IEEE® 802.3af/at/bt standards. The PD70288 device has internal N-channel MOSFETs that support a 100V maximum voltage rating. The MOSFETs have a very low total path resistance of 140 mΩ (typical) for high overall efficiency and higher output power, which is particularly important when used in Type 3 and Type 4 PD applications. Through a control input, the PD70288 device can be used as a high efficiency IDB or as a standard diode bridge. The PD70288 device can be used in applications designed for up to 6 kV ITU-T Criteria A differential and common mode surges with external surge protection components. The PD70288 device has a Wall Adapter enable pin that can be used to disable the IDB, allowing support of both PoE or Wall Adapter powered applications. The device is RoHS compliant, MSL3, and packaged in a 8 mm × 8 mm 38 lead package. Ambient temperature range is −40 °C to 85 °C.
