The SparkFun XBee Explorer USB is a user-friendly, USB to serial base unit designed for the Digi XBee line. It's compatible with all XBee modules, including the Series 1 and Series 2.5, both standard and Pro versions. Simply plug the unit into the XBee Explorer, connect a mini USB cable, and gain direct access to the serial and programming pins on the XBee unit.The standout feature of this board is the FT231X USB-to-Serial converter. This component is the key to data translation between your computer and the XBee. The board also includes a reset button and a voltage regulator to provide the XBee with adequate power. For your convenience, four LEDs are included to aid in debugging your XBee: RX, TX, RSSI (signal-strength indicator), and a power indicator.The SparkFun XBee Explorer USB also provides each of the XBee’s I/O pins to a pair of headers compatible with a breadboard. This feature allows you to take advantage of the XBee’s extended functionality. You can solder header pins or wires into these for added flexibility.It's important to note that this Explorer USB does not come with an XBee. You'll need to check the recommended products section for different options. Also, this board is not capable of sourcing the power required for the Cellular XBee line.
