The MCP19061 is a sophisticated mixed-signal controller with a four-switch buck-boost configuration, designed to function within a supply range of +4.5V to +36V, and it is capable of enduring up to +42V when not in operation. This device is enhanced with a digital PWM controller that includes a serial communication interface, enabling programmability and monitoring from external systems.
Features in the MCP19061 support USB power delivery (USB-PD) with limited external components, easy calibration, high precision, and superior end-user charging experiences. The device allows for full personalization of its operational parameters, including power profiles, protection settings, and fault management, through its digital registers.
The MCP19061 utilizes a highly accurate reference voltage for precise control and setting of output current or voltage. It features internal dividers for both input and output, aiding in design simplicity while preserving accuracy. Additionally, a high-precision Current Sense Amplifier (CSA) is integrated for exact current control and monitoring.
Equipped with three internal Low Dropout Regulators (LDOs), the MCP19061 includes a 5V LDO for powering both internal analog circuits and gate drivers, as well as providing an external 5V supply. A 4V LDO is dedicated to the internal analog components, and a 1.8V LDO supplies the internal digital logic.
The device is available in a compact 32-lead 5 mm x 5 mm VQFN package, which allows system designers to tailor application-specific features, thereby conserving valuable PCB space and reducing the need for additional components.
For communication purposes, the MCP19061 employs a high-speed (1 MHz) I2C serial bus to facilitate data exchange with the system controller.
