The PAC1711 product is a one channel energy monitor, with a bus voltage monitor and current sense amplifier that feed a single 12-bit resolution ADC. The device is designed for high side current sensing, and the digital circuitry performs power calculations and energy accumulation. This enables energy monitoring with integration periods up to one year or longer. Bus voltage, sense resistor voltage, and accumulated proportional power are stored in registers for retrieval by the system host or Embedded Controller. The device includes the alert system allowing for alerts when the system detects voltage, current or power excursions with up to two alert pins. The sampling rate and energy integration period can be controlled over SMBus or I2C. One-shot measurements, and other controls are also configurable by SMBus or I2C. The PAC1711 uses real time calibration to minimize offset error. No input filters are required for this device. Built in adjustable averaging makes for very low noise high resolution measurement results.
