This USB 3.0 cable is used to connect your USB 3.0 devices and as an additional power supply. For example, with the help of an optional connection cable, external 2.5 or 3.5 HDD enclosures can be connected to a notebook or PC without requiring an additional power supply unit.

Note: a 3.5 HDD can only be operated without an additional power supply unit when connected to an active USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port.
