518 Loctite 518 sealant, 25 ml

Loctite® 518 is a one-component, medium-strength anaerobic sealant which cures when hermetically sealed between close-fitting metal surfaces.

Typical applications include sealing close-fitting connections between rigid metal sealing surfaces and flanges. Resistant to low pressures immediately after mounting the flange. A typical application is the production of liquid gaskets on rigid flanged connections, e.g. transmission and engine housings etc. The thixotropic nature of Loctite® 518 reduces the migration of the liquid product after application to the part.

A surface seal is a sealant between two flanges mounted with screws. Surface seals prevent the escape of liquid and gaseous media by completely filling the space between the flange surfaces. These seals must therefore remain intact and tight during the entire life of the connection. The surface seal must be resistant to the medium to be sealed and withstand the operating temperatures, pressure ratios and relative movements or deformations of the parts.
