Noctua's first passive CPU cooler NH-P1 was developed from scratch for fanless operation:

Thanks to six heat pipes and especially thick cooling fins with big gap between fins, modern high-end processors with low to medium heat dissipation can be completely passively cooled in housings with good natural convection.

For even higher cooling performance or semi-passive systems, in which the fans only start when required, the NH-P1 can be equipped with a slow, ultra-quiet 120-mm fan such as the NF-A12x25 LS-PWM. Rounded off by the professional, Torx-based SecuFirm2+™ mounting system and Noctua's award-winning NT-H2 thermal compound, the NH-P1 is the ideal foundation for completely fanless or semi-passive premium systems.
