For disconnecting the battery from the on-board power supply, e.g. for motor homes, caravans, motor vehicles, construction machinery, boats, etc., this prevents unwanted power consumption when not in use and the discharge of the starter battery during prolonged standstill due to leakage currents. Also serves to secure the vehicle against unauthorized use, as a preventive fire protection measure and as an emergency stop switch.
