Open-source IPC with 8/16/32 GB eMMC on Raspberry Pi basis

General information At 22.5mm, the RevPi Core is only half as wide as the RevPi Connect, but has twice as many PiBridge connectors, namely two. This means that the RevPi Core can be upgraded with up to 10 expansion modules. Like the RevPi Connect series, the RevPi Core series is equipped with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3, Compute Module 3+ or Compute Module 4S, depending on the version. A Real Time Clock (RTC) with 24 h buffering ensures that the device always knows how late it is, even in the event of a power failure. As with all Revolution Pi basic modules, the operating system is a specially adapted version of Raspbian with a real-time function.

Core S / Core SE The new Revolution Pi S/SE series are updated basic modules of the Open Source IPC, which are based for the first time on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4S. The new series are positioned between the 3+ series and the RevPi 4 series and are intended to compensate for the supply bottlenecks of the Compute Module 3+. RevPi Core, RevPi Connect, and RevPi Flat are available in S/SE series. The Raspberry Pi organization offers the Compute Module 4S as an alternative to the Compute Module 3+, which is currently difficult to supply. This is a compute module in the form factor of the CM 3+, on which the more powerful Arm Cortex-A72 processor of the CM 4 is installed. The S-Series differs from the SE-Series in its compatibility with expansion modules, including fieldbus gateways. The SE series, on the other hand, can only be extended with IO modules and, in the case of RevPi Connect, with Con modules. Fieldbus gateways are not supported in the SE series. This innovation is also based on the global semiconductor crisis: The required Ethernet IC, which is responsible for connecting the gateways via the PiBridge, is currently not available in sufficient quantities. Because many of the devices operate without gateways, the SE Series has been created to ensure that enough devices can be built to meet all customer requirements. The new CPU of the Compute Module 4 S is only supported with kernel 5.10. Customers using their own image or a KUNBUS image with an older kernel will need to upgrade the kernel.
