The STM32F405xx and STM32F407xx families are based on the powerful ARM® Cortex®-M4 32-bit RISC core, which operates at a frequency of up to 168 MHz. The Cortex-M4 core has a single-precision floating-point unit (FPU) that supports all ARM commands and data types for processing data with simple accuracy. It also implements a full set of DSP commands and a Memory Protection Unit (MPU) that increases application security.

The STM32F405xx and STM32F407xx family includes embedded high-speed memory (up to 1 MB of flash memory, up to 192 KB of SRAM), up to 4 KB of backup SRAM, and a wide range of advanced I/O and peripherals connected to two APB buses, three AHB buses, and a 32-bit multi-AHB bus matrix.

All devices feature three 12-bit ADCs, two DACs, a low-power RTC, twelve 16-bit general-purpose timers, including two PWM timers for motor control, two 32-bit general-purpose timers, and a true random number generator (RNG). They also have standard and advanced communication interfaces.
