The Intellinet Gigabit media converter enables the integration of copper cable connections into a fiber optic network. Herewith the integration or extension of the existing network can be done with low cost and effort. Since the converter is fully network transparent, the network continues to operate in the same manner - now supporting both copper and fiber media.

Extends an existing network With fiber connectivity, remote workgroups can now be integrated into the network. Building-to-building connections can thus be set up without additional routers, saving effort and costs.

Increases the range between network devices Connecting to a fiber optic segment can increase the distance between remote network nodes. This can be achieved by connecting the converter directly to a fiber link node or network device.

Flexibility in cabling Network administrators can install fiber optic cables anywhere within a network without having to change the copper cable network design. The converter's compact design allows it to be installed in locations with limited space, as well as on a wall mount. Likewise, multiple converters can be installed simultaneously in a 19" rackmount enclosure.
