Why do our smartphones lose battery power so quickly? The lithium batteries in our devices have a natural life cycle that can be affected by various factors. One of these is overnight-or generally prolonged-charging, which lasts an average of 8 hours per night and negatively affects the capacity of lithium-ion cells. This is because the battery is maintained at its full-charge voltage of 4.35 V, even after it has reached 100%, to ensure that it does not discharge overnight.

How does ASO work? ASO (Automatic Shut Off) is able to detect the power required by the smartphone from the charger and, thanks to a switch, disconnect the battery from the power source once the device’s power needs have been met. Unlike all other charge controllers, ASO does not read the battery’s voltage or capacity; instead, it analyzes the current flow between the device being charged and the charger. By disconnecting the battery when it is fully charged, ASO prevents the battery from remaining at the end-of-charge voltage even after reaching 100%, which is extremely harmful to the electrodes of lithium cells, allowing the battery to be lowered to a more comfortable voltage and its discharge cycle to begin. It’s like relaxing your muscles after an intense workout.
