The STEVAL-PTOOL2V1 BLDC driver reference design is designed for battery-operated power tools with 8S to 15S rechargeable battery packs. It is based on the STSPIN32F0252 motor controller with embedded 3-phase 250-V gate driver and low-power STM32 MCU. The power level is based on the STL130N8F7 power MOSFETs or a similarly powerful device in a PowerFlat 5x6 housing. The card implements a single-shunt sensor topology with field-oriented control. (FOC) as well as a sensor-controlled or sensorless six-step control for actuating permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) and brushless direct current motors (BLDC). The corresponding six-step STSW-PTOOL2V1 firmware is ready for use with position feedback from phase Hall effect sensors.
