The SparkFun EKMC4607112K PIR Breakout is a compact, efficient Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor, specifically designed for detecting motion within a small area. Equipped with a Panasonic EKM-series PIR sensor, this board is optimized to detect even the smallest movements, making it an excellent choice for continuously powered applications. The SparkFun EKMC4607112K PIR Breakout doesn't provide specific distance data but instead monitors for infrared light from objects within its field of view. It activates its signal when motion is detected in its sensing area. This feature makes it ideal for applications such as automated on/off lighting control, home and building automation for energy saving, security, appliances, and IoT.The Panasonic PIR motion sensors on the SparkFun EKMC4607112K PIR Breakout are low-profile (10.9mm as opposed to the standard 14.4mm height), offering space savings for constrained designs.
