Sparkfun GNSS Receiver - EM-506N5

The EM-506N5 GPS receiver is a powerful product from USGlobalSat, which leverages the MediaTek high performance L1 band GNSS receiver. This upgraded version of the EM-506 includes several new features such as on-board voltage regulation, LED status indicator, battery backed RAM, and a built-in patch antenna. However, it does not include a 6-pin interface cable. The EM-506N5 GPS module is designed to deliver superior sensitivity and performance in challenging environments such as urban canyons and dense foliage. This makes it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications, from navigation systems to geocaching adventures.The receiver boasts impressive features, including a sensitivity of -165dBm for tracking and -148dBm for acquisition (Cold Start TTFF). It offers quick start times: less than 1 second for Hot Start, less than 15 seconds for Warm Start, and less than 35 seconds for Cold Start. The main power supply ranges from 4.5V to 6.5V, with a typical current of 32mA when the GPS is not 3D fixed and 29mA when it is.The EM-506N5 operates on multiple frequencies, including GPS L1CA/QZSS L1CA/SBAS L1/Galileo E1 (E1B+E1C) at 1575.42 MHz, GLONASS L10F at 1602 MHz, and BeiDou B1 at 1561.098 MHz. It boasts a horizontal position accuracy of less than 2.5m and a velocity accuracy of less than 0.05 m/s for speed and less than 0.01 degrees for heading. The receiver also offers a quick reacquisition time of 0.1 second on average and an update rate of 1 Sec / 5 Sec.The EM-506N5 can operate at altitudes of up to 18,000 meters and velocities of up to 500 meters per second, with a maximum acceleration of less than 4G.
