SparkFun Mini Human Presence and Motion Sensor - STHS34PF80 (Qwiic)

The SparkFun Qwiic Mini Human Presence and Motion Sensor, featuring the STHS34PF80 Low-power, high-sensitivity infrared (IR) sensor from STMicroelectronics, is designed for precise presence and motion detection. This compact breakout board measures just 1.27cm by 2.54cm and includes two I²C Qwiic connectors, simplifying integration without the need for soldering. However, 2.54mm-spaced pins are also available for breadboard use.Ideal for applications such as alarm systems, anti-intruder setups, smart lighting, and room occupancy monitoring, the STHS34PF80 sensor measures black-body radiation and ambient temperature within its 80° field of view. It employs a matrix of floating vacuum thermal transistors to differentiate between stationary and moving objects, effectively eliminating self-heating effects. These features make it a versatile tool for various detection needs.Operating efficiently in diverse lighting conditions, the sensor is unaffected by visible light, thanks to its 5 to 20µm optical band-pass filter. With output data rates ranging from 0.25 to 30Hz and a single-shot mode accessible via I²C or SPI interface, it provides reliable performance across different environments.The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is a streamlined ecosystem of I²C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables designed to expedite prototyping and reduce errors.
