Current Mode Resonant Controller with Integrated High Voltage Drivers, High Performance, Active X2

The NCP13994 is an enhanced, high-performance current mode controller for half-bridge resonant converters. This controller incorporates a 700 V rated high voltage start-up current source and X2-Capacitor discharge function as well as gate drivers, simplifying layout and reducing external component count. In applications where a PFC front stage is needed, the NCP13994 features a dedicated output to interface with the PFC controller. This feature together with the dedicated quiet skip mode technique ensures excellent no-load and light-load efficiency can be achieved for the entire system. The NCP13994 provides a suite of protection features allowing safe operation in any application. This includes overload protection, over−current protection to prevent hard switching cycles, brown−out detection, open optocoupler detection, automatic dead−time adjust, overvoltage (OVP), and overtemperature (OTP) protection.
