Measuring stretch forces can be challenging, but conductive rubber cord simplifies the task. This 2mm diameter, 1-meter-long cord, imbued with carbon-black, offers a unique approach to detecting dynamic changes in stretch lengths by varying resistance based on elasticity.In a relaxed state, this material boasts a resistance of approximately 350 ohms per inch, which increases as it's stretched. For instance, a 6-inch piece offers around 2.1 kohms resistance. If elongated to 10 inches, it escalates to about 3.5 kohms. Ideal for gradual applications, the rubber extends 50–70% beyond its original size but is not designed for highly precise linear sensing.This kit includes a full meter of conductive cord, two alligator clips, and a 10K resistor. Employ these components to construct a simple voltage divider. Reference the included Thermistor tutorial, which guides you through measuring analog voltages, thereby converting the readings back into resistance, broadening your experimental horizons.
