Adafruit Large push-pull solenoid

Solenoids are electromagnets made of a large coil of copper wire with an armature in the center. When energized, the armature is drawn into the coil, enabling the solenoid to either pull or push.This solenoid features a robust 40mm long body with a captive armature complete with a return spring. When activated with up to 12VDC, it moves efficiently, returning to its original position once the voltage is removed, thanks to the spring mechanism. Unlike many lower-cost solenoids, our model boasts both push and pull capabilities.Conveniently designed with 4xM3 threaded holes for easy mounting, this solenoid requires a power transistor and a diode for operation. Ideal for use with an Arduino or other microcontrollers, it demands a solid power supply due to a 250mA current draw—making a 9V battery insufficient. Optimally powered by a 12V supply, ensuring reliable performance.
