The MCP14T0517 is a push-pull transformer driver designed for compact, isolated power supplies operating from a 3V to 5.5V DC input. It integrates two power MOSFETs to drive center-tapped transformers and features an internal oscillator with a gate drive circuit that provides complementary outputs for ground-referenced N-channel switches. The device controls the slew-rate of switch voltages to minimize EMI, utilizes oscillator dithering, and allows for an external switching clock for precise harmonic placement or multi-driver synchronization. Protection features include 2.5A peak current limiting, undervoltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown, dead time generation, and a soft-start function to prevent high inrush currents during power-up.

The MCP14T0517 is available in two variants: MCP14T0517A, which operates at 150 kHz for applications requiring low EMI, and MCP14T0517B, which operates at 450 kHz for designs needing smaller transformer sizes. Both variants are housed in a compact 6-pin SOT23-6 package and are characterized for reliable operation over a wide temperature range from -40°C to 125°C.
