Homematic IP Smart Home Window and Door Contact - Visual

Detects when windows are opened and closed and enables the heating to be automatically turned down

The Homematic IP Window and Door Contact is part of the Homematic IP smart home system and reliably monitors doors and windows. Instead of the usual magnetic contacts, this innovative sensor uses a sophisticated optical sensor. This eliminates the need for an additional magnet, thereby reducing installation effort. The built-in infrared light barrier monitors the door or window and detects whether it is open or closed.

In the Homematic IP system, this small sensor performs several tasks at once. First, it automatically reduces the heat output when ventilating by notifying the Homematic IP radiator thermostats as soon as a window or exterior door is opened. A particularly practical feature here is the ability to set a delay for doors used multiple times a day, to prevent the radiator valves from constantly opening and closing. Additionally, the sensor reliably monitors access to your home while you’re away. When alarm mode is activated, the Homematic IP siren can be triggered if a window is opened without authorization. The app also sends a warning in the form of a push notification to the user, allowing them to respond promptly to the dangerous situation.

The small sensor, weighing just 30 grams, is so energy-efficient that it operates for about two years on a single AAA battery. When the battery is running low, the Homematic IP app sends a notification. The sensor’s light weight allows for reliable attachment using double-sided adhesive tape. This tape is included in the package, along with an additional brown cover cap and a reflective film. If the window or door material does not allow for attachment with adhesive tape, the two tiny screws included in the package can be used.
