Automotive, 400kHz, 36V, 30A boost converter with buck, LDO charger and battery health detection

The TPS61383-Q1 is a 400kHz, 40V, 30A automotive

bi-directional boost converter, buck charger with battery state of health detection

function designed for backup power systems like TBOX or eCall. The converter

supports absolute maximum voltage up to 40V on the VOUT pin to withstand load-dump

condition and supports direct connection with 12V car battery. The TPS61383-Q1

integrates I2C configurable buck/LDO charger supporting NiMH, Li-Ion, LiFePO4, super

capacitor.

TPS61383-Q1 integrates boost function that

operates over 0.5V to 12V BUB voltage and 5V – 12V output voltage. The device

applies fix frequency peak current control scheme with optional spread spectrum to

minimize EMI. The boost function supports 5A – 30A programmable average current

limit.

The TPS61383-Q1 integrates battery health

detection feature, which discharges the battery with a constant current and detects

the voltage drop across the battery internal resistance.

The TPS61383-Q1 is available in a 3mm × 4mm QFN

package with wettable flank. Care must be taken when designing the PCB with
