The SparkFun BlueSMiRF v2 is a versatile wireless Bluetooth® serial link designed to replace cluttered serial cables. It functions as a wireless serial UART link, facilitating easy pairing, connection, and data transmission between TX and RX lines. Handling serial streams from 2400 to 921600 baud, it supports full-duplex transmissions up to 921600 bps. Ideal for short-range indoor applications up to 33 meters, this board simplifies point-to-point communication, offering a reliable wireless connection that's simple to set up and use.Perfect for connecting to phones, computers, or other microcontrollers, the BlueSMiRF v2 offers a seamless wireless solution. Its design includes a 6-pin JST-GH connector, making it compatible with systems using the same pinout, such as the SiK Telemetry Radio V3 and the SparkFun LoRaSerial Kit. This allows for straightforward integration into existing setups, bridging hardware directly to Bluetooth-enabled devices.For example, it can be easily connected to high-precision GNSS breakout boards like the LG290P, mosaic-G5 P3, ZED-X20P, and LG580P. This setup enables streaming of location data directly to GIS apps on smartphones, enhancing the functionality of geographic data collection tools.Designed for user-friendliness, the board includes features to streamline workflow. Simple pairing is achieved with an onboard PAIR button, allowing direct connections to phones or computers for remote control and data viewing. Remote configuration is possible through a serial terminal app and a straightforward AT command set, enabling adjustments to baud rates, flow control, and LED modes.With built-in 2.4GHz WiFi, the BlueSMiRF allows for convenient in-field firmware updates. An onboard AP2112K voltage regulator and logic-level shifting ensure compatibility with pins ranging from 3.3V to 5V, though an RS232-to-TTL converter is needed for higher voltages. Supporting both Bluetooth Classic (SPP) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), it is compatible with Android devices, most desktops, laptops, and Apple devices.
