The Raspberry Pi Model A+ is a credit card sized computer board that is ready to use once the keyboard, mouse, display, power supply and microSD card with operating system installed are added. It is an ARM-based miniature PC that can run many of the applications that normally require a desktop PC, such as spreadsheets, word processing and games. It also plays HD videos. The Raspberry Pi Model A+ is an open source product designed to support Internet-based user forums.

The new Raspberry Pi A+ is the successor to the Raspberry Pi A with the following improvements:

- More IO. New 40pin IO replaces the 26pin IO. The first 26 pins are assigned identically to the Pi A, B or B+ and thus ensure compatibility with the previous accessories - MicroSD card slot replaces standard SD card - 20-30% lower power consumption by switching from linear to switching regulator - Better audio quality - Chinch FBAS connection was removed and relocated to the 3.5 mm audio socket - the board is about 2 cm shorter
