Evaluation module for SHS sensors

Functional description The condensation module is a universal, resistive evaluation circuit for condensation sensors SHS A1 to SHS A5. The module has a 3-pin socket for connecting the sensor and a 4-pin terminal for operating voltage and relay output.

In principle, the module and sensor form an electronic hygrostat for the high-humidity range that is intended to detect dew formation or incipient condensation on objects. As the measured value of the surface moisture exceeds a specific limit value (approx. 94% RH), the relay contact opens and the quiescent current loop is interrupted (safety function). The signal can be used to switch on a dryer or a heater, for example.

When using the SHS A5 as the sensor element, in addition to the resistive humidity sensor, the conductivity sensor integrated on the sensor is evaluated, and this recognises when condensation has already formed.

By using the innovative measuring principle and SHS condensation sensors with a logarithmic curve, it is possible to record the condensation threshold very exactly and immediately before the formation of condensation.

The module is protected against overvoltage, reverse polarity and incorrect connection by means of varistor and protection diodes. Connection is via a 4-pin terminal.
