WLAN radio networks belong to all areas of life today. Whether office environments, schools, universities, shopping centres, sports stadiums or event locations, no area can do without WLAN. This Wi-Fi 6 access point offers low latency times and high throughput per client even with high terminal device density. The LX-6402 has four external dual-band omnidirectional antennas that can be exchanged for sector antennas as required. The ability to connect external WLAN antennas ensures accurate coverage in complex environments.

Dual Concurrent Wi-Fi 6 with aggregated data rate of up to 3,550 Mbps

The LANCOM LX-6402 offers WLAN in the Wi-Fi 6 standard (IEEE 802.11ax) and can supply both clients in the 2.4 GHz frequency band and modern terminal devices in the 5 GHz band with fast WLAN. Wi-Fi 6 technology enables transmission rates of up to 2,400 Mbps in 5 GHz and up to 1,150 Mbps in parallel in 2.4 GHz.

4x4 multi-user MIMO in the downlink and uplink

Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO for short) allows all available spatial streams of the LANCOM LX-6402 to be distributed to several different clients simultaneously instead of serving them one after the other as was previously the case. This makes efficient use of the available bandwidth and massively reduces delays in the wireless network. With Wi-Fi 6, MU-MIMO can be used not only in the downlink but also in the uplink.

OFDMA - the carpool in the radio field

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) divides the frequency range of a WLAN channel into several frequency blocks within a time unit. This creates subchannels (sub-carriers) that can be up to 2 MHz narrow. This means that small data packets such as those expected from IoT devices no longer block the channel of 20, 40 or even 80 MHz width alone. On the other hand, the Wi-Fi 6 access point can combine several subchannels and transport them together. A kind of carpooling that avoids that many cars with only one person blocking the road traffic and instead the streets are emptied by a few cars with several occupants.

160 MHz channel width

The access point can handle channel bandwidths of 20, 40 and 80 MHz (with 4 streams) and 160 MHz (with 2 streams). Terminal devices with two antennas that support reception at 160 MHz thus benefit from strong data rates of up to 2,400 MBits in the 5 GHz frequency band.

Longer battery life thanks to TWT

Until now, smartphones, tablets or notebooks had to be ready to receive at all times in order not to miss any of the data packets that might arrive. This quickly used up the battery charge. Wi-Fi 6 brings a new technology that counteracts power consumption on the client side. Target Wake Time, or TWT, reduces consumption by letting the access point and client negotiate exactly when the receiver will wake up to receive the data packets.

Band Steering

Optimal load distribution in your wireless network thanks to active control of the clients on the less used and more powerful 5 GHz frequency band.
