GW Instek introduces the GPT-12000 series, its flagship model (200VA output power) safety analyzer.

The GPT-12000 Series is the world's first safety analyzer to comply with IEC 61010-2-034 (Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use - Particular requirements for insulation resistance meters and dielectric strength testers). IEC 61010-2-034 requires that software and hardware interface requirements be followed in the design of high voltage and insulation resistance test and measurement instruments to ensure that users receive the necessary protection and warnings when using their instruments.

To meet the safety requirements of IEC 61010-2-034, the series uses double insulation for the input and output voltages, significantly increasing user safety. In addition, a retracted on-off switch (START button) and various (optional) mechanisms for activating the test (e.g., hold down for 1 s to activate, activate by pressing double buttons, etc.) are incorporated into the series to prevent accidental contact from causing the high-voltage/high-current output to cause damage and danger to products or users. Brightly lit LEDs (flashing or permanently lit) and high volume audible indication are integrated in the series to indicate the status of the tests in progress or the assessment results of the safety analyzer. In addition, the device under test (DUT) is automatically discharged to a safe voltage (approx. 30 V) after each test to prevent excessive residual test voltage from endangering the user.
