Description The Eclypse Z7 is Digilent's latest FPGA/SoC development board designed specifically for rapid prototyping and for developing embedded measurement systems. With high-speed ZMOD ports for modular expansion, a Digilent Xilinx Zynq®-7020 SoC plus software API, the Eclypse Z7 is fast, flexible and reduces the time engineers and researchers need to develop innovative and powerful, new high-speed instrumentation, control and measurement systems for edge computing, medical and communications applications. The Eclypse Z7 is the first host board of the Eclypse platform.

ZMOD extension ZMOD is Digilent's new extension solution that uses Opal Kelly's open-source SYZYGY standard. Zmods are faster than the Pmod standard and are more compact and cost-effective than FMC, improving customisation options for high-speed I/O. Connect your application-specific Zmods and be up and running in hours or days instead of weeks or months. In addition to the Eclypse Z7, two Zmods will be released-the ZMOD ADC 1410 and the ZMOD DAC 1411-both with 100 MSPS, 14-bit converters. More are planned for the future.

Software for the Eclypse platform The Eclypse Z7 is a component of the Eclypse platform that combines Digilent's open software API with Digilent's novel Eclypse hardware. Petalinux is supported out of the box. Pre-compiled Linux images are accompanied by the API for bulk data transfer. This system allows users to connect their Zmods of choice and start prototyping new testing, measurement and control systems without needing a direct interface to the FPGA. With this system, embedded Linux developers can benefit from the power of FPGAs without needing any hardware expertise. At present, C and C++ are supported, with plans to support other programming languages in the future.
