New FI/LS switches save 50 percent of space in the electrical distribution board The new Siemens 5SV1 RCDs combine residual current and overload protection in a single division unit (TE) for the first time. The compact devices protect people from dangerous electric shocks and at the same time prevent over-current damage to cables as well as the failure of electrical systems and consumers in buildings, infrastructure and industry. In the event of a fault, they reliably and safely disconnect the respective circuit from the mains supply. Compared to conventional devices, the 5SV1 RCDs require only half the space. This means that more protection devices can be installed in one distribution board and new protection functions can be added to existing installations easily and in a space-saving manner. The protective devices can also be connected to a 5SM6 fire protection switch block and thus offer personal, line and preventive fire protection in just two division units (TEs).
