Open-source IPC with 8/16/32 GB eMMC based on Raspberry Pi

General Coming in at 22.5 mm, the RevPi Core is only half the width of the RevPi Connect but boasts twice as many PiBridge ports-namely two. This allows the RevPi Core to be upgraded with a maximum of ten expansion modules. As with the RevPi Connect series, the RevPi Core series is equipped with the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3, Compute Module 3+ or Compute Module 4S. A real time clock (RTC) with 24-h buffering ensures that the device always knows how late it is, even in the event of a power failure. As with all Revolution Pi base modules, a specially adapted version of Raspbian with real-time function is used as the operating system.

Core S/Core SE The new Revolution Pi S/SE series are updated base modules of the Open Source IPC, which, for the first time, are based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4S. The new series are positioned between the 3+ series and the RevPi 4 series and are designed to compensate the supply bottlenecks of the Compute Module 3+. RevPi Core, RevPi Connect and RevPi Flat are available as S/SE series. The Raspberry Pi organisation offers the Compute Module 4S as an alternative to Compute Module 3+, which is currently experiencing supply difficulties. This is a Compute Module in the form factor of the CM 3+, on which the more powerful Arm Cortex-A72 processor of the CM 4 is installed. The S series differs from the SE-Series in terms of its compatibility with expansion modules, including fieldbus gateways. In contrast, the SE series can only be expanded with IO modules and, in the case of RevPi Connect, with Con modules. The SE series does not support fieldbus gateways. This new factor is also due to the global semiconductor crisis: The required Ethernet IC, which is responsible for connecting the gateways via the PiBridge, is currently not available in sufficient quantities. As many of the devices operate without gateways, the SE series was developed to ensure that enough devices can be built to meet all customer requirements. The new CPU of the Compute Module 4 S is only supported with kernel 5.10. Customers using their own image or a KUNBUS image with an older kernel will need to upgrade the kernel.
