DMFS-C2 Diamond magnetic field sensor

The DMFS-C2 is an innovative fiber optic magnetic field sensor that uses the magnetic field dependence of the fluorescence of nitrogen-vacancy centers (NV centers) in diamond to measure magnetic fields. The effect used is based on quantum mechanical spin states of individual NV centers, which are influenced by magnetic fields.

The sensor head consists exclusively of non-magnetic and non-conductive materials. The DMFS-C2 is an isotropic sensor, i.e. the signal amplitude depends only on the strength of the magnetic field and not on its direction. All that is required for the measurement is a simple optical setup with an excitation light source and a photodetector - microwave radiation is not necessary.
