IR-LESEKOPF DX read head for electricity meters (Tasmota)

Read/write head for reading digital electricity meters (smart meters) via the infrared interface.

The read-out data is sent to the router in the home network via WLAN and can be read out with any device that has access to the network. The data can also be sent to home automation systems, e.g. via MQTT, to trigger switching or control processes. This is made possible by the extremely versatile open source software Tasmota, which is used in the Diamex read head.

Depending on the type of electricity meter, the current consumption, meter reading, voltage or grid frequency are read out, among other things. The feed-in quantity from the solar system can also be logged for bidirectional meters and used to control zero feed-in systems. A pin code must be entered on the electricity meter to ensure that all data is output by the electricity meter. You can obtain the pin code from your grid operator on request. The flashlight function of the Diamex read head is very helpful for easy entry of the pin code.

An ESP32-C3 microcontroller is used in the Diamex read head, which is very powerful. The Tasmota software is pre-installed by us with the script function activated; this is a free service. The Diamex read head is magnetically attached to the electricity meter. A control LED indicates data transmission and therefore correct positioning. A micro-USB connection is used for power supply and for programming the microcontroller.
