SparkFun Mono Audio Amp Breakout - TPA2005D1

The SparkFun Mono Audio Amp Breakout - TPA2005D1 is a compact audio amplifier that utilizes the Texas Instruments TPA2005D1. This efficient class-D amplifier ensures low heat generation and extended battery life. It is capable of driving an 8-Ohm speaker at up to 1.4 Watts, making it an excellent choice for various audio projects.The amplifier features fully-differential inputs that are safe for both floating and ground-referenced audio signals. This makes it compatible with a variety of audio sources, including the MP3 Shield from SparkFun. A shutdown input is included to conserve power when the amplifier is not in use. A solder jumper and header are also provided for the connection of a volume-control potentiometer (not included).The class-D design of the amplifier outputs a 250kHz PWM-like signal that is converted back to an analog voltage in the speaker's coil. This unique feature contributes to the amplifier's efficiency.
