Transphorm 4kW Analog Bridgeless Totem-Pole Power Factor Correction (PFC) Board (TDTTP4000W065AN) achieves very high efficiency single-phase AC-DC conversion using the TP65H035WSG4, a diode-free Gallium Nitride (GaN) FET bridge with low reverse-recovery charge. Using the Transphorm GaN FETs in the fast-switching leg of the circuit and low-resistance MOSFETs in the slow-switching leg of the circuit results in improved performance and efficiency. The TP65H035G4WS MOSFET is a normally-off device that enables AC-DC bridgeless totem-pole PFC designs. The MOSFET features fast-switching leg and low-resistance Silicon MOSFETs in the slow-switching leg of the circuit. This TP65H035G4WS MOSFET device is designed with the latest Gen IV, SuperGaN™ technology. The TDTTP4000W065AN board uses the bridgeless totem-pole power factor correction (PFC) topology with a traditional Texas Instruments UCC28180 analog controller. This pairing provides fast and easy access to the high power density made possible by GaN FETs without the need for firmware development required by DSP. This board operates from 85V to 265V AC input voltage range and 387V DC output voltage. The TDTTP4000W065AN board is ideally used in data center power supply and broad industrial power supply. Warning! This EV demo board is intended to validate GaN FET technology and is for demonstration purposes only and no guarantees are made for standards compliance. There are areas of this evaluation board that have exposed access to hazardous high voltage levels. Implement caution to avoid contact with those voltages. Also note that the evaluation board may retain high voltage temporarily after input power has been removed. Exercise caution when handling. When testing converters on an evaluation board, ensure adequate cooling. Apply cooling air with a fan blowing across the converter or across a heat sink attached to the converter. Monitor the converter temperature to ensure it does not exceed the maximum rated per the datasheet specification.
