Summary

The MCP2021 provides a bi-directional, semi-duplex communication interface to a local interconnect (LIN) and SAE J2602 bus for the automotive and industrial sectors. Operation includes LIN bus specifications of versions 1.3, 2.0, 2.1 and SAE J2602. The device has a voltage regulator with 5V/50mA or 3.3V/50mA output. The regulator is short-circuit-proof and also includes a thermal shutdown. The regulator is specifically designed for use in the automotive environment and can withstand reverse battery conditions, +43V load release transients and double battery jump starts. The device was developed to meet the high quiescent current requirements of the automotive industry.
