The PRCD-S is a PRCD (Portable Residual Current Device; S = safety) designed as an intermediate cord device with electronic residual current evaluation. It is particularly suitable as a PRCD-S for small construction sites as recommended by the Energy Textile Electrics professional association (BGI608) as well as all portable electrical appliances.

In accordance with BGI608, the PRCD-S features the following functions:

- Residual current protective device - Under-voltage protection - Earth conductor detection - Protective conductor monitoring - External voltage detection

Protection if external voltage is on the protective conductor

The PRCD-S detects the external voltage on the earth conductor.

However, the PRCD-S does not interrupt the earth connector connection.

The external voltage can therefore be isolated via their own, upstream protective devices FI and LS.

In the event of errors in the connected electrical appliance:

The PRCD-S provides protection according to DIN VDE 0661.

Residual currents caused by defective consumers result in all-pin shutdown via the PRCD-S.

For system faults in the permanent installation:

The PRCD-S detects all conceivable faults in the permanent installation and cannot be switched on in the event of a detected fault.

The intact protective conductor functions are checked before turning on and monitored during operation.

An increase in protective level against shock currents is achieved.

Under-voltage protection prevents automatic switch-on after power is restored.

The PRCD-S does not shut off when the protective conductor is supplied with external voltage, e.g. by drilling into

an external cable. The upstream safety device can therefore respond.
