ZyXEL's GS1100 Series consists of three unmanaged switches: the GS1100-8HP, GS1100-16 and GS1100-24. The GS1100-16 has 16 GbE ports, and the GS1100-24 is a 24-port Gigabit switch with two additional Open Gigabit SFP slots. The GS1100-8HP is an 8-port Gigabit switch that complies with the IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet (PoE) Plus standard and provides 4 PoE ports with up to 30 watts per port.

The GS1100 series not only offers Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for applications for Next Generation Networks, but also power-saving functions for better energy efficiency. As the transmission power can be dynamically adjusted depending on traffic, active connections and cable length, the GS1100 series can reduce power consumption, resulting in lower operating costs.

Connection load detection - compliance with the Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) standard The IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) function automatically detects the volume of traffic in the network and dynamically adjusts the power consumption. This enables the switch to reduce power consumption during periods of low connection utilization. The GS1100-8HP has an additional switch for switching IEEE 802.3az on/off. This allows users to activate/deactivate the Energy Efficient Ethernet mode by simply pressing a button.

Detection of inactive connections By detecting inactive connections, the power consumption is automatically throttled as soon as a shutdown network device or an inactive connection is detected. The ZyXEL GS1100 Series can adjust the power consumption according to the connection status and the number of active network devices.

Cable length detection With this eco-friendly feature, the switch can automatically detect the length of the connected Ethernet cables and adjust the power consumption accordingly. The shorter the cable, the less energy is consumed.

Fanless design The fanless design of the complete GS1100 series enables silent operation in small or quiet office environments. The GS1100-8HP PoE model is specially designed with an external power supply so that no additional fan is required to cool the device. It is therefore perfect for quiet PoE deployments.
