The RPLidar A1M8 from SLAMTEC is a very compact 360° LiDAR with a measurement range of 0.15 - 12m. Due to the USB / UART interface and its flat height, this sensor is predestined for development platforms for research and development of SLAM, HRI and navigation applications. The A1M8 LiDAR comes with a small USB UART adapter board which converts the 8bit protocol accordingly. In addition, various ROS packages and Arduino libraries are available for free download for easy integration. If a corresponding interface is not available, the data can be prepared and processed according to the following scheme.
