SC0715 Raspberry Pi - Camera, 1.6MP, C-/CS socket

A special 1.6 megapixel camera that can record fast movements without producing the artifacts typical of rolling shutter cameras (without lens, see accessories).

It is ideal for time-lapse photography and image processing applications where even slight distortions can seriously affect inference performance.

With a large pixel size of 3.45 µm × 3.45 µm, which provides high light sensitivity, the global shutter camera can be operated with short exposure times (as low as 30 µs with adequate lighting), an advantage for high-speed photography.

It features a 1.6 MP Sony IMX296 sensor and the same C/CS mount lens assembly as the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera to be compatible with the same wide range of lenses. Like other global shutter sensors, the IMX296 has a lower resolution than rolling shutter sensors of similar size. A low pixel count is suitable for image processing applications where high resolution images are difficult to process in real time. The lower resolution of the global shutter camera means that an image suitable for processing by a machine vision model can be captured natively at the appropriate lens magnification.

Important note This camera is compatible with all common Raspberry Pi boards up to Raspberry Pi 4. Boards from Raspberry Pi 5 require a replacement connection cable, see "Accessories & alternative products" (item no.: RASP CAM FPC 20 / RASP CAM FPC 30 / RASP CAM FPC 50)
