Foam PVC is an excellent rigid material for the construction of student project work. It is a cheaper, lighter, and a more versatile alternative to acrylic and MDF. It is often referred to by the trade names of komacel or foamex. Foam PVC can be drilled and shaped with ease. Its ability to be thermoformed means that students can vacuum-form and line-bend the material to create their designs. Foam PVC can be joined by a variety of methods. It can be glued using solvent or contact adhesives. Double-sided tape makes an excellent alternative to gluing, since it also allows the joint to be separated at a later stage.
