LOCTITE SI 5980 is a black alkoxy-silicone sealant, which is particularly suitable for sealants with high requirements for oil resistance. It can compensate for strong relative movements between flanges. It is often used to seal punched sheet metal parts (timing covers and oil pans). LOCTITE SI 5980 cures when exposed to moisture in the air and forms a rigid rubber seal. Its thixotropic properties makes it easy to apply and reduces sealant migration after application. It passes tests for tightness with low pressures, which are carried out immediately after flange mounting.
